HUM 101 FALL 2011 Course Policy

Course format :

  • Two lectures each week, Monday and Wednesday at 09:00
  • Two class sections each week, as scheduled

Lectures: Attendance at lectures is required. Arrive on time and do not leave until the lecture is finished. This is a matter of academic courtesy.

Class sections : Attendance at class sections is required. Go to the class section in which you are registered. Be on time and bring your course book. The primary purpose of class sections is to discuss and analyze the readings. Prepare for class by reading the assignment before class. Do not expect your instructors to do the reading for you!

Attendance is a fundamental requirement of the course. If you miss more than six class-section hours for any reason, you will receive a class-section grade of zero. No excuses.

In all cases, you are responsible for knowing the material and instructions presented in class. If you miss a quiz or writing assignment because you are absent from class, you will receive a zero for that quiz or assignment.

Grading: Your final grade for the semester will be calculated according to the following:

  • class section 30% (preparation, participation, quizzes, written assignments)
  • mid-term examination 30%
  • cumulative final examination 40%

Plagiarism and cheating: Any student suspected of plagiarism or cheating will be immediately referred to the disciplinary committee. No exceptions.

This course moves quickly, and there is quite a bit of reading. To succeed: read/prepare every week, and attend lectures and classes. That is your fundamental responsibility.
